I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and have been living and working in South Florida since 1981. I'm fully bilingual (English and Spanish), earned a MS in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University, and a BFA from Florida Atlantic University. I've also attended several seminars on Trauma and PTSD, Ericksonian Hypnosis, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (the latter given by Donald Meichenbaum, PhD, one of the world's foremost experts in CBT).

Most recently, I have researched and incorporated Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a mindfulness-based approach to psychotherapy, as a cornerstone of my practice - with amazing results. Throughout my career, I have helped clients deal with issues that range from depression, anxiety, self-harm, OCD, traumatic grief, PTSD, LGBT identity and sexual issues to gambling and substance abuse.

I've worked at private practices and not-for-profit organizations. My practicum took place at the Broward Outreach Center, a homeless shelter in Downtown Hollywood, where I worked with clients of different genders, ethnic groups, nationalities, and sexual orientations with severe mood disorders, addiction, mental illness, and co-occurring conditions.
Services
I work on a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues, providing evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatments that span from counseling for depression and anxiety to post traumatic stress disorder, grief counseling and more.
In addition to counseling, I also coach individuals to improve their effectiveness, satisfaction and results.
I offer a highly integrative approach, tailored to each of my clients' individual needs, in a comfortable and supportive atmosphere.
One of the many benefits of using a Mental Health Counselor is the fact that we are much more affordable than a Psychiatrist or Psychologist for counseling services, while having some of the same counseling training.
In addition, the training, testing, and thousands of hours and years of experience required to be licensed in the state of Florida assures you that you're in the hands of a skilled professional.
We do not take insurance, but keep our rates affordable and are comparable to the average specialist copay in the area.
Counseling for you or a loved one is an investment of time and money and a commitment to your well being.
It's a decision that shouldn't be taken lightly, and since you'll be addressing some of the most uncomfortable or painful issues in your life, I strongly suggest that you find someone that you feel comfortable working with.
To help you make this important decision, schedule an appointment today, and learn a bit more about me, ask any questions you may have, and decide whether I'm a good fit for you.
