What if you could heal from your painful past without having to tell the story again? Thanks to the magic of neuroscience, that is possible. I understand what it is like to live with past abuse and can help you leave the pain behind. Are you stuck and don't know what to do next? Do you have problems with depression? Anxiety? Mood swings? Are you troubled by thoughts of past events that interfere with life now?

As a therapist, I believe that you are the person with the answers to your life. I bring skills, knowledge and experience that can aid in your journey of recovery. You bring your experience and skills from your life. I approach my work with optimism. You can achieve what you want and need in your life. Together we break through the challenges you face, whether physical, emotional or mental.

I believe that the use of addictive substances, and addictive behavior as a whole will keep us from achieving our goals, even though we may feel better at first, it doesn't last and it makes things worse in the long run.
Services
I am Jeanne L. Meyer, MS, LMHC, LPC, MAC.
As a therapist who believes that you are the person with the answers to your life, I focus on your goals, the reason you came to therapy.
I have skills and experience that can aid in your journey, but it is not my job to tell you what your journey is.
I approach my work with optimism that you can achieve what you want and need in your life.
Together we identify the barriers you have to your goals and determine a strategy to break through them.
I believe that our experience includes how we feel physically and emotionally, how we think, our relationships with others and how we connect spiritually.
Everyone knows what recovery means, right?
It means getting better.
Whether it is from a physical illness or injury or from addiction or mental illness, it's about healing.
What does it take to get better?
In the case of a physical illness or injury, the first thing that has to happen is the cause of the injury has to be stopped first.
Then the healing can begin.
The same is true of addiction; we have to stop using our drug(s) first.
But that's not the end of it.
Active addiction causes problems for us and the people around us: family, friends, employers, etc.
Do you want the long or the short explanation about DBT?
DBT is about finding a balance.
It helps people learn and use skills to make wise choices instead of reacting without thinking and doing things that make problems worse in the end.
DBT was developed by Marsha Linehan, PhD who is a Professor in the Department of Psychology and the Director of Behavioral Research & Therapy Clinics (BRTC) at the University of Washington in Seattle.
DBT was originally developed to treat suicidal patients 25 years ago and has now been adapted to treat a number of conditions.
When someone experiences an event or multiple events that cause them intense fear, it can change the way the brain works.
Whenever something reminds you of the trauma, you can relive it.
You may be afraid of certain places, tones of voice, objects, people with certain body types.
Smells can trigger your fear.
You may be afraid to go places or do things because you may be triggered.
You may have vivid nightmares and wake up feeling you or someone you love is in danger.
You may experience health problems, chronic pain, have difficulty sleeping or eating.
