Lauren, Paula and Sarah have experience working alongside Police and Firefighters with both Phoenix and Chandler Crisis Response teams. When selecting a counselor, look for someone who has been trained specifically in the treatment of trauma in First Responders. We are committed to your safety, privacy, and comfort as well as excellence in our service to you.

You will never be asked to leave your weapon in your car and you will be met with understanding of your job and its culture. Catastrophic thinking is often a result of subconsciously over-estimating the possibility of threat and under-estimating our ability to cope with it. Lauren and Rhanda treat social and performance anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, symptoms of frequent worry, and avoidance behaviors.

We understand how challenging it can be to fit a relationship into 50 minutes a week, so all couples appointments are offered in 1-3 hour slots. Paula and Dylan specialize in children and adolescents. Therapy is best approached like taking a class where the subject is you.

CBT is about learning to think about how we think.
The model above describes how each of these areas of functioning influence one another.
If we learn to monitor our distorted thoughts and challenge them - see them in a realistic way - we can alter our mood.
Similarly, our behavior affects our mood.
CBT is a psychotherapy that is based on the cognitive model: the way that individuals perceive a situation is more closely connected to their reaction than the situation itself.
One important part of CBT is helping clients change their unhelpful thinking and behavior that lead to enduring improvement in their mood and functioning.
Being a teen in today's world is unlike any other period in our history.
Rates of substance abuse, car accidents, and pregnancies are down in many parts of the country, but rates of depression, anxiety, and self-harm have increased.
Our teens face stressors like cyber bullying, online sexualized behavior, peer pressure, and access to violent and pornographic content all in the palm of their hands.
Our world is becoming more connected, but we are growing father apart in many ways.
Let us help you reconnect with your teen, teach them helpful coping skills, and provide a safe and nurturing environment in which to explore their strengths and increase their sense of mastery over the stress and anxiety of today's world.
We are fully trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Teens (MBSR-T), and evidence-based intervention for teens suffering from anxiety.

Stressed Teens teaches mindfulness skills and provides tools for those in their pre-teen years through latter adolescence and even for young adults.
Stressed Teens takes a mind-body approach and focuses on the whole person.
