We are psychotherapists in Fort Myers, Florida specializing in the treatment of children, adolescents and families. Our mission is to help our clients make positive change in their lives through healing, growth and wellness. We work to empower our clients to solve problems and work through any social emotional or personal struggle. The foundations of our therapeutic philosophy can be found in the healing properties of the Onyx stone.

Traditionally, Onyx stones are believed to foster resilience and aid in aligning reason and self control with healthy perceptions. Onyx is also known to absorb and protect against negative energy while allowing for stress release and the promotion of emotional well being. These healing steps are reflective of just some of the inner stability and peace that we strive to help our clients achieve for themselves.

Working in collaboration with your vision of personal growth and fostering your innate strengths we look forward to being your partner in self discovery.

Individual Therapy is when the therapist and client meet one on one to establish a safe, confidential and therapeutic alliance as a way to work through and process life experiences, unpleasant emotions or relationship issues.
The therapist and client work together to identify things the client would like to change, build a stronger sense of self and create personal goals.
People decide to explore individual therapy for a variety of reasons; including coping with a major life change, such as a parent's divorce or loss of a loved one, to experiencing a recent or childhood trauma as well as learning to manage depression, anxiety and even anger.

Trauma Focused - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidenced based and empirically supported treatment model designed to help child, adolescents and their parents/caregivers during the aftermath of a traumatic event(s) or experience(s).
TF-CBT is a components based approach that incorporates aspects of trauma interventions, cognitive behavioral and family therapy principles as well as attachment and empowerment theory.
Colleen and Diana are both EMDRIA approved therapists.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy is a comprehensive physiological treatment that helps us to process upsetting memories or information so that we can recall such upsetting memories is a less emotional and distressing way.
When we have a negative experience and we are in distress our brain cannot process the information or memory the way it would for a normal, or non traumatic memory.
During EMDR you will work through the upsetting or difficult memory and the memory will become appropriately stored in your brain in a way that will subsequently result in a less distressing response to the memory or traumatic event.
Play is the natural language and communication style of children.
Because of their limited vocabularies and verbal abilities, children have the potential to resolve stress, conflict, grief and unresolved trauma through the utilization of play therapy interventions.
Play within the therapeutic environment provides children an opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings in a way that is consistent with their social and emotional development.
Children learn to problem solve and work through conflict within their play as the play provides a safe psychological distance from the conflict or trauma that is non invasive.
