One of the most common questions a child is asked is, "What are you going to be when you grow up?" Well, I knew the answer to that question quite young in life. During my high school years I was very close with a friend who had been adopted. This friend was struggling with many issues involving his adoption; I found that listening was very instinctive to me as was guiding my friend towards resolution and finding inner peace.

It was from that friendship that I knew what my calling would be. It is not just about helping people, but more about getting results and not being afraid to dig deep and ask the questions that need to be answered. I value the relationship, connection and rapport I build with my clients and believe that trust is a crucial element of that relationship.

It is important to me that my clients always feel comfortable and safe in our sessions. Whether this will be your first time in counseling or you are returning and looking for a new therapist, it is vital to the effectiveness of your therapy that you feel connected, safe and comfortable exploring even the most deeply felt sources of pain or conflict.
Services
If you are new to therapy, you may be wondering what the therapy process will be like.
In reality, the therapy process is very individual and therefore it can look and feel differently to every single person.
However, there are some things you can expect or that will be expected of you.
For therapy to be successful, you must allow yourself to be honest and open even though this may be difficult at times.
Therapy is the one place that you can be 'real' and where you won't be judged, so it is important not to censor your thoughts, ideas, and feelings.
Before we begin our work together, it is important to know what your insurance benefits are.
To assist you in this process, I have provided a Mental Health Benefits Worksheet for you to complete with your insurance company.
Once you have this information, you will then call my billing manager, Kristi, to provide her with your benefits information.
Kristi's number is 509.725.0236 and her office hours are Monday-Thursday 10am-4pm.
Please have this all completed prior to your first session.
In our first appointment, I will ask a variety of questions to understand what brought you to therapy.
Fees for telephone calls with current clients that are counseling in nature, attendance at meetings with other professionals you have authorized, preparation of records or summaries, or other services you might request from me are pro-rated based on my normal hourly fee, with a minimum fee of 10 minutes (1/5 hour).
A late payment fee of 1.5% per month will be added to any balance after 60 days.
Any balance that goes unpaid after 90 days will be submitted to a collection service unless a payment agreement has been made with me.
There are various reasons why adults choose to seek therapy.
Whenever a situation starts to control our lives or affect our everyday functioning, it is a clear signal that a neutral perspective from someone such as a therapist is needed.
The ultimate goal of counseling is to learn new and more effective ways of navigating everyday life so that we may live a more authentic and fulfilling existence; overcome obstacles that keep us from reaching our goals and becoming the person we want to be.
To achieve this, individual therapy with adults involves addressing life challenges, the pain, and the decisions with which to resolve them.
Couples counseling focuses on the conflict that exists within the relationship, as well as each person's individual perceptions, reactions and challenges.
As an experienced couple's therapist, I will assist you in identifying and exploring the problem areas in your relationship while we also determine the goals for relationship recovery.
I will look at patterns of interactions between you and your partner/spouse, as well as other internal and external experiences that impact your relationship.
The dynamics in your relationship are likely to be present in your sessions, just as they are outside of therapy.
