I recognize the uniqueness of each individual.
What works for one person may be very different than what works for others.
I therefore conduct a very thorough assessment in which I take time to listen to all concerns and come to understand the unique history, background, culture, and current situation of everyone with whom I work.
From there, we formulate a set of goals and identify the most effective methods I might employ to achieve them.
My clinical and educational practice is not limited to a "one-size-fits-all" approach.
Psychotherapy, or personal counseling with a psychotherapist, is an intentional interpersonal relationship used by trained psychotherapists to aid a client or patient in problems of living.
It aims to increase the individual's sense of their own well-being.
Psychotherapists employ a range of techniques based on experiential relationship building, dialogue, communication and behavior change and that are designed to improve the mental health of a client or patient, or to improve group relationships (such as in a family).
Think of traumatic memories as frozen images locked in the brain - tied in their own biochemical package.
Although no one is entirely sure why, eye movement unties the package and allows the trauma to be released and processed to an acceptable resolution.
Many experts believe that when skillfully administered, this technique acts as a kind of jump start to a natural human mechanism for processing thoughts and incorporating them into memory - not unlike the kind of natural cleansing cycle found in REM sleep.
A session with Joe Remsik, LCSW, is offered at 145.00 for a 45--50 minute session.
As a convenience to his clients, he gladly accepts most insurance plans including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Magellan, Aetna, and others, including many EAP programs If your plan is not listed, please call the office, as new plans are accepted daily.
Some people find themselves in need of therapy but are unable to pay for the full session.
Joe fully recognizes that people who desire psychotherapy often find themselves facing a financial barrier to the treatment they are seeking.
