Services
Are you looking for a highly trained therapist who can work with you to help you transform your life?
Would you like specific tools for change rather than spending months or years in endless talking about your problems?
I am here to help you achieve your goals.
I am certified as a Level 4 Trainer/Therapist in T.E.A.M. therapy through the Feeling Good Institute in Mountain View, CA.
I practice the T.E.A.M. model of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ( CBT) as developed by David Burns, M.D., author of several books, including Feeling Good, the New Mood Therapy, Feeling Good Together, When Panic Attacks.
Barbara provides professional and confidential counseling services to adults ages 18 and older, for a wide variety of challenges and issues.
Habits and Addictions ( binge eating, weight loss, alcohol and drug abuse, internet, etc).
Sessions are generally 1.5 to 2 hours in length, allowing for sufficient time to provide empathy and support, while also determining what help is wanted, what obstacles may be present, and what goals and skills will be most helpful.
Barbara uses the T.E.A.M. model of therapy, which is explained more fully in the section, Style of Therapy.
Grief and loss happens at some time in the life of every person.
There are losses of parents, grandparents, children, pets, friends.
There are many other losses we sometimes fail to recognize or talk about, such as loss of job, change of job, moving one's home, loss of country, loss of health due to illness, going from married to single or visa versa, and so many others.
If you are struggling with feelings of sadness, aloneness, isolation, anger, and have experienced a loss that does not feel like it is resolving, it might be time to seek professional guidance and support to help you move through this.
Address challenges in your relationship with effective communication and conflict resolution.
Many couples attempt to handle conflict and the delicate aspects of their relationship on their own.
This often leads to increased negativity when one or both partners feel criticized, defensive or unheard.
The result is an increased breakdown in communication where many couples become further alienated from one another.
Over time, many couples report spending less time with one another, resulting in decreased intimacy.
Counseling helps those struggling with specific issues by providing a safe and positive environment to express concerns, identify core issues, and learn and practice therapeutic solutions to their problems.
Barbara will begin with an in-depth evaluation and discuss your primary goals that will help to determine the estimated number of sessions.
She will determine what is needed in consulting with you to set up the counseling.
Consult Barbara for professional guidance at (650) 625-8850 to find the best therapy program for you.
