For those of you who garden, you understand the importance of pulling a weed out by its roots; otherwise, it will keep coming back. We value taking the time necessary to explore your past and determine together the root causes of your issues. The process of therapy involves talking about our thoughts, emotions, and our internal states, but it is so much more than that.
Whatever you wish to call it-"counseling, " "psychotherapy, " or just "therapy"- these are all words for the same thing: allowing an expert into our inner worlds to help us rearrange, find more balance, and see ourselves and the world we live in from a new perspective. We approach our therapeutic work with patients and the community from a place of cultural humility and cultural responsiveness.
We recognize that none of us can hold a complete understanding of one culture, let alone the countless diverse cultures that comprise our world community. Culturally responsive counseling means that we choose to maintain an active engagement in continuous learning about each person's unique cultural identity, actively self-reflect & self-critique, & check power imbalances to create a space for cultural sensitivity.

Services
In addition to being a psychotherapist, I am a wife and mother of two teenagers.
We have a beautiful German Shepherd, Kyah, who is my therapy dog and counseling partner!
Our faith is a major part of our lives.
Being a Christian shapes who I am and my desire to serve others through counseling, but I do not label myself as a Christian Counselor.
I believe in accepting, not judging, so welcoming and working with people from any faith or no faith, and not pushing my beliefs on them, is something I strongly value.

While from a young age I knew I wanted my purpose in life to be found in the service of others, I didn't always know I wanted to be a psychotherapist.
In college I had interests in psychology, sociology, communications, and social justice, and had experiences with mental healthcare.
Pursuing a career in clinical mental health counseling allowed me to blend my academic interests with my passion for connecting with others.
It is my greatest honor to be fully present with someone as they share their life, stories, & experiences.

What I love about therapy is that it's all about building a relationship, and a good relationship requires a safe space, a sense of direction, and room to grow.

I grew up believing in being of service to others.
I began my career in case management, working with veterans, individuals facing homelessness, and people transitioning from incarceration.
