According to the American Psychological Association, "Psychologists help people of all ages live happier, healthier and more productive lives." Through the use of various psychotherapy methods and collaborative treatment measures, my patients develop life-changing habits to help them cope with any of life's various obstacles. My name is Cecilia Marin and I am a bilingual/bicultural clinical psychologist located in Coral Gables, FL.

As a Miami native, I feel incredibly lucky to be able to serve the community I know and cherish. With over 12 years experience in the mental health field, I have come to realize that the relationship between therapist and patient is key to a successful therapeutic experience. I have worked with infants, children, teens, adults, couples and parents and I can assure you everyones experiences are different.

For that reason, I steer away from a "one size fits all" approach. Therefore, your therapeutic experience will be specifically tailored to you. I draw from various types of therapies such as psychodynamic, interpersonal and cognitive-behavioral techniques.
Services
I attained my BA in psychology at Florida International University, and earned my MA and PsyD from The Wright Institute in Berkeley California.
I have been fortunate to have lived and trained on both ends of the coasts as fundamental elements of mental health treatment and policy vastly differ.
This experience has allowed me to incorporate treatment elements and adjust it to what feels right.
My training and professional experience include numerous facilities and private practices.
During my graduate school training, I was assigned to different yearly practicums.
My adolescent psychotherapy practice is focused on supporting teens, ages 12-18, as they face the ever so changing demands, risks, pressure, acceptance, and questions encountered throughout this essential period.
For some parents it can be a trying time to see their child transition into a teen.
Many parents say "This change happened overnight".
Without any warning, you are left trying to find a way to connect with your teen.
This process can be overwhelming to say the least.
It is not uncommon to view this phase as a 'trying on' period, in which the search for identity begins.
My adult psychotherapy practice is focused on individuals who experience recurring negative life patterns, or who feel "stuck"or dissatisfied with their job, boss, significant other, family members, or life goals.
While life happens it can be easy to fall into similar situations that trigger the cycle.
I use an integrative psychotherapy approach that provides the framework to explore the complexities your daily experiences, by revisiting your previous relationships, experiences and self-perception to better understand the origin of the presenting problem.
Remember when you were beaming with excitement about your relationship?
What about your contagious smile, good mood, and "This is the one" factor?
What happened to the unexpected gifts, or acts of kindness that seemed to be the description of your relationship?
If you feel estranged from your significant other, or on opposite sides of the battlefield chances are something went wrong.
Many times couples, unknowingly, become complacent, or stop investing the same amount of time and attention on aspects that carry a lot of weight for the other person.
Because Infants and very young children exist in a relational context the parent-child relationship is the target of the therapeutic intervention.
The parent might feel disconnected from their child or viseversa.
There are many factors that can contribute to the dyadic disturbance and early childhood behaviors, but for now all you know and feel is a possible disconnect from yourself or your child, guilt and feelings of desperation.
You and your child can expect to engage in therapeutic play interactions which offers an opportunity for the parent and child to engage in mutually enjoyable, conflict-free interaction.
