After completing her bachelor's degree in Psychology at the University of Iowa, Ashley earned her master's degree in both Mental Health Counseling and Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Drake University. She has experience providing mental health counseling, vocational rehabilitation counseling, as well as individual and family skills counseling.
She has also received training in play therapy, career counseling, disability-related issues, and various trauma treatment modalities. In addition to working with individuals from various walks of life, she also has a passion for working with attachment concerns in children and families, and she enjoys assisting families with adoption issues and changes in family structure.
Ashley believes that the ability to heal from past experiences is innate in each and every individual, and it is the job of the therapist to help create the conditions necessary to allow our natural healing mechanisms to work. She strives to create a calm and accepting space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences while feeling safe, grounded, and connected.
