ACT offers our 24-hour helpline, 3 safe shelters, children's program, counseling, (both individual and group), economic empowerment program which includes financial and health literacy, Injunction for Protection legal service, life skills education, job skills evaluation and training along with GED assistance and ESOL.

In the non-residential outreach program, we provide long-term counseling, therapy and support, economic empowerment services, a rape crisis center where we do the forensic examinations, advocacy department that provides advocacy through the judicial system, and a legal program for Injunctions for Protection.We have been providing all the programs and services listed on our website for over 42 years in Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties.
Services
The ACT Emergency Shelter offers a safe haven for victims of domestic violence and their children.
Our Fort Myers shelter offers 73-beds and our Cape Coral shelter has 23-beds and 19 in our Hendry County shelter.
In our fiscal year 2018, ACT provided shelter for 692 residential clients for over 25,000 nights of shelter, and provided 18,316 residential counseling hours.

Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc. (ACT) is a private, not-for-profit agency committed to serving victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.
ACT provides services to all persons without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, mental or physical disability, sexual orientation, citizenship, marital status, gender identity (or expression), language spoken, immigration status and any other protected class, ability/disability, health/mental health status, pregnancy, military status, and genetic information.
In 1974 a group of dedicated women founded the very first rape crisis center in Lee County.
From operating out of their homes to address the trauma women and children faced in our community, to in 1978 officially incorporating under the name of Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc. (ACT) and opening the first safe shelter for domestic violence, these women have changed the face of our community and saved countless lives.
Aiding victims of violence and oppression at the hands of their intimate partners-both male and female-was a 24/7 job for ACT's founding group.
Provides counseling/social work services to residential clients and their children, including crisis intervention, shelter admissions, residential case management, shelter departures, and case file closure.
Maintains current and accurate records of client interviews, keeping all forms and records of clients up-to-date and in compliance with funding requirements.
Maintains contact and develops good working relationships with other agencies which may be in contact with ACT clients.
Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four year college or university; or two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ACT's mission is to protect, support, educate and empower victims of domestic violence and their children, survivors of sexual assault and human trafficking in Lee, Hendry, and Glades Counties.
ACT's externalvision is to develop a community where all individuals are safe, respected and valued; where any form ofviolence is unacceptable and for all individuals in our community have access to resources that teach and support a fear-free environment.
Our internal vision is to be the most highly respected and well known social service agency in Lee, Hendry and Glades counties.
