People seek counseling for many different reasons: to work through a crisis, cope with life changes, heal from past trauma, work on relationships, pursue personal growth, and much more. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, or seeking emotional healing in some area of your life, I can help you! Through counseling, I will give you the tools you need to reflect, heal, and grow.

Anxiety and stress limit many people's ability to work, socialize, parent, and function in society. Creating and maintaining healthy relationships can be tough-it requires honest communication, vulnerability, and trust. Do you have trouble forming healthy relationships? Whether you are a student figuring out your college major and career path, or someone making a career change mid-life, I can help you discover the career that best suits you, your strengths, your gifts and talents, and your interests.

What do you think of when you hear the word "relaxation?" Does relaxation sound like an indulgent luxury or a practice that is crucial for your well being?
Services
My name is Dr. Julia Becker, and I am passionate about helping people find hope and healing through professional counseling.
During our time together, I will help you identify obstacles you are facing, enable you to define your goals, and equip you to create a happier, more fulfilling life.
I've worked in the Waco community since 2009.
I counsel a wide variety of clients and specialize in treating individuals with anxiety disorders.
I also work with clients who are seeking help with personal growth, coping with a life stressor, or adjusting to various life changes.
Anxiety and stress limit many people's ability to work, socialize, parent, and function in society.
I often experience physical symptoms of anxiety: muscle tension, chest pains, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, dizziness, lightheadedness, hot or cold flashes, difficulty breathing, quickened heartbeat, trembling or shaking, difficulty swallowing, or increased sweating.
Everybody experiences anxiety and stress to some degree, but too much can damage your health, relationships, and happiness.
If you are concerned about your level of stress or anxiety (and can relate to the list above), there is a good chance you need therapy to help reduce your stress level and anxiety.
People often need help navigating relationships in their life, whether a parent/child relationship, or a relationship with one's significant other, friend, roommate, co-worker, or boss.
In therapy, I ask a series of background questions to help us both understand your main concerns within a particular relationship, and then I determine your individual course of therapy to help you achieve your specific relationship goals.
Sometimes people need help being more assertive, drawing clear boundaries, developing empathy, becoming more vulnerable, managing conflict effectively or understanding their needs/wants within a relationship (and then knowing how to ask for what they need/want).
During your initial appointment, we will talk about your concerns, your background, and your goals for therapy.
We will work together to develop a treatment plan based on your unique needs and personality.
Each therapy session lasts for 50 minutes.
I usually recommend that people attend therapy once per week initially, but in some cases I may recommend either more or less frequent sessions.
As clients make progress in therapy, we often decrease the frequency of therapy sessions.
In order to provide the highest level of privacy and customized care, I do not accept any health insurance.
My goal here is to educate and encourage people seeking counseling as well as to remove the stigma that prevents people from seeking professional therapy.
You will find that I've written a variety of articles centered around therapy, mental health, and necessary life skills, all to help you find greater fulfillment in life.

Research shows that taking time to relax through simple and short practices has huge mental and physical.
