So glad you are considering taking a next step toward healing and freedom from life-controlling difficulties!
It certainly takes courage and humility to enter into your pain or fears with someone you just met!
The journey may not be easy and in fact, it may be uncomfortable at times!
Remembering and exploring hurtful or difficult times while increasing your understanding and awareness of their impact can bring on strong emotion and anxiety.
There is no magic pill and I cannot promise that you or your situation will change; but know that I will try my best to understand you, to help you identify your needs, clarify your desired outcome, and walk with you through it!
From my own experience, I would say that parenting is by far the most wonderful thing ever and also by far the most difficult thing EVER!
Raising little people requires a love and an endurance that no other fathomable occupation or endeavor on planet earth can match.
And sometimes, a little help can go a long way.
Didn't someone say it takes a village?
In therapy with children, I utilize a simplified version of cognitive-behavioral theory that involves fun and engaging worksheets, activities, and relevant, applicable play.
The teenage years come with a unique set of struggles different from every other phase of life.
From puberty through high school, adolescents are battling not only physical and hormonal changes, but the search for identity, acceptance, and belonging.
Add in peer pressures, bullying, low self-esteem, body image insecurities, compounded by academic pressures such as college entrance exams, career expectations, and the tug-o-war between dependence and independence!
The intensity of those pressures can sometimes ripen the field for anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation and even technology, social media and gaming addiction.
There are a variety of situations and life events that can trigger anxiety and depression.
But whatever your situation, there is hope!
Did you know that according to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, women are more than twice as likely as men are to develop depression and anxiety?
In addition to general life stressors and major life changes, women also face significant chemical and hormonal fluctuations that have been known to impact mood and emotion.
However, research has shown that therapy or counseling can help improve both anxiety and depression!
Are you in a place right now where you look at your spouse and wonder "what happened to us?"
You remember the early bliss of the relationship, the late night conversations, the fun and exciting dates, the friendship and romance that kept you inseparable; but now you feel disconnected, lonely, or even hurt, possibly betrayed.
Maybe you feel like a pinball, bouncing back and forth between hope and hopelessness?
Between a desire to fix your marriage and just giving up?
Maybe divorce seems like your only option.
