When you open the door to my office, you will arrive in an emotionally safe place. I provide a judgment-free zone where you will find the compassion, respect and the support that you need. For over a decade, since earning a master's degree in marriage and family therapy, I've been treating individuals and couples in transition, teens and their families, and adults suffering from depression and anxiety.

My approach is based on Humanistic Therapy, which holds that each of us is inherently worthy and that the path to genuine happiness leads through self-understanding and self-improvement. Within that framework, I offer practical techniques for achieving emotional wellness. With couples, that may mean dealing with communication and conflict resolution, infidelity, or phase of life/transitions.

With individuals, it can take the form of promoting awareness, setting priorities or Mindfulness Cognitive Therapy. With all of my clients, treatment is highly collaborative, carefully tailored to specific goals and frequently informed by creative interests.
Services
I have been working as a therapist with adults, teens, families, and couples for over 15 years.
Previous to my work in therapy, I was a high school history and algebra teacher with at-risk youth.
As a teacher, I witnessed the benefits to being a positive influence and a mentor.
The teens I worked with needed adults who liked them, listened to them and believed in them.
And I realized it was time for me to train to be a therapist.
I graduated from Antioch University in Los Angeles with a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, and a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Therapy is effective in treating symptoms related to anxiety, depression, anger, self-esteem, grief and loss, phase of life/transition, and a variety of other issues.
In session, I use a combination of treatments that most effectively target your current state of being.
Most commonly, treatment consists to 2 parts.
First, we work to manage the symptoms that are affecting your daily life.
Second, we search for deeper meanings about why these feelings exist for you.
While we work on both parts at the same time, are first goal is helping you to feel better.
This is a good idea for cohabitating, pre-cohabitating, pre-marital, or early marriage couples.
What makes pre-marital counseling different that marriage counseling is we not only focus on particular issues and concerns a couple is faces, but in its structured approach we cover specific topics important to folks who are considering spending their lives together.
Some couples have a hard time deciding if couples counseling is the right choice for them.
The structured approach of pre-marital counseling takes some of the edge off.
Perinatal mental health is an important topic to discuss.
Of the women reporting, there is said to be up to 20% who experience perinatal depression and/or anxiety.
Perinatal is the experience before, during and after pregnancy, and the physiological and hormonal shifts taking place during this time are tremendous.
Often times, women don't share their emotional struggle and this can lead to more serious depression and anxiety.
The best thing a woman can do is seek support.
And support comes in many forms; talk to a friend or family member, join a mommy and me group or other perinatal support group, or call a qualified therapist.
Sessions are $300 for individuals and $350 for couples per 50 minute session.
I generally see clients weekly in order to keep treatment moving forward.
Short term therapy is available for clients who would like to work toward more pragmatic solutions or are working with a limited time frame.
We can discuss your personal needs in an intial consulation.
