While at university, I wholeheartedly focused on the counseling aspect of social work, knowing my goal was to work with individuals and families in the future. I took coursework on counseling with individuals, counseling with groups, and counseling with families and I have trained in solution-focused brief therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and grief therapy.
Most recently, I completed EMDRIA-approved EMDR training at the basic training level. During my career as a social worker, I have worked with people with HIV or cancer during my time in Austin. Since moving back to San Antonio, I have had the privilege of working with the terminally ill and their families and people living with chronic illness. My years working in health care has exposed me to people from all walks of life, dealing with just about every life crisis or mental health issue imaginable.
It has been an honor to serve each one of them, and I have learned from my clients what books could never have taught me.

If the answer to that question is "I want to achieve the next level of professional certification, refine my clinical skills, and increase my marketability as a mental health professional" then clinical supervision is the next step in your journey.
I am a Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners approved clinical supervisor and I am currently accepting supervisees.
Clinical supervision is a relationship between a board-approved LCSW supervisor and a supervisee that should encourage growth, reflection, and critical thinking as it relates to your interactions with clients.
