I am an experienced, intuitive therapist and I have spent over 20 years gaining high-quality training and experience for the sole purpose of best helping you with the problems that are weighing you down. By the close of the first session, I will lay out a plan for how we will work together to meet your needs.

I am skilled in EMDR and Brainspotting for resolving the effects of trauma or other distressing experiences, Ego State work (also called parts work, or inner systems work) for helping people feel solid and in control of themselves and their lives, attachment repair for feeling safe in the world and in relationships, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to relieve anxiety and depression, and Emotionally Focused Therapy to change the sometimes hard-to-see core of repeating patterns.

I am also a seasoned grief counselor, I hold a certificate from Postpartum Support International for counseling in maternal mental health, and I have counseled people in recovery from substance abuse since 1999.
Services
Additionally, I have over twenty years of post-graduate experience working in community counseling centers, renowned alcohol & drug treatment centers, hospice organizations, as well as my work in my private practices in Atlanta, North Palm Beach, FL, and online with teletherapy.
Why bother to tell you all that?
Because it's what you need to know to make an informed decision when choosing your therapist who will help you with important life concerns.
It's the experience I bring to every session in my work with you.
Most people come to counseling with an earnest desire to figure out how to feel happier.
Yet, to my knowledge, there is no such thing as "happiness counseling."
So I decided to offer this, explicitly, as a focus of my private practice work.
You will see on my website, and most other therapists' websites, the problems we address; problems to be solved like anxiety, PTSD, depression, relationship conflict.
The problem with addressing problems is that people often assume they have to take a deep dive into the problem itself to figure out the solution.
I sometimes think of anxiety & panic as being like a rip current that catches us up and pulls us out of our calm and into scary thoughts and upsetting emotional states.
It's exhausting and upsetting.
Sometimes the more we try to escape our anxiety, the worse it gets.
Stepping out of anxiety is similar to surviving being pulled out to sea: you have to keep a clear head about you and know how to manage the circumstance.
Our entire life perspective is colored by those who raise us and our self-concept is in large part based on the environment and relationships we grow up with.
It is a shocking moment when you realize you might be an adult child who was raised by a narcissistic parent because the insight comes with at least a vague realization that all of your effort to be good enough, visible, or worthy of attention, attunement and emotional support and encouragement have been for naught: your narcissistic parent still does not recognize you as the competent, worthy, emotionally present person you have always been.
Jennifer spends dedicated time with each of her clients, learning about their personal experiences and co-creating trust and safety from which to work.
When people are traumatized and their nervous systems are left frazzled and dysregulated, they sometimes dissociate, or automatically numb, to avoid the painful memories, emotions and sensations that are maladaptively stored in their bodies and that repeat without permission.
Traumatized people also learn to avoid the intrusive ways trauma comes into their present awareness by thinking all the time, by "living" in their heads, for example, and losing touch with what is happening in their bodies.
