At Thrive Counseling and Wellness, we are committed to providing a positive, person-centered approach the facilitates growth and aims at equipping clients with the tools required to live a rich, fulfilling life. We strive to listen empathetically and provide a judgement-free space to explore the things keeping you from living the life you desire. In each person's life a little rain must fall. At times, however, it may feel as though you are ill equipped to weather the storm.

I work from a person-centered approach, understanding that we each come with our own strengths and challenges.
I offer a collaborative approach and an encouraging space utilizing techniques from a variety of theoretical frameworks including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing.
At your first session, your counselor will review your intake form and talk with you about your situation and symptoms.
You and your counselor will regularly review your progress to assure the effectiveness of your counseling process.
Professional counselors cannot and do not prescribe medication.
In the course of therapy, if both the counselor and client believe that medication may be beneficial, your counselor may refer you to your family physician or a psychiatrist.
Medication alone cannot solve all issues.
A certain level of stress is typical and expected.
You work a demanding job, have a busy schedule and tend to your most valued relationships.
But normal stress can turn into anxiety and anxiety can turn into fear.
Sometimes stress can become so problematic that it interferes with your daily life.
Anxiety may be caused by a life event, physical condition, psychological stressors which have accumulated or a combination of these.
Certain people may be more anxious in their daily lives and thus, may be more prone to developing an anxiety condition.
Trauma includes a wide variety of significant distressing experiences that people endure that overwhelm the mind, body or both.
Trauma events can present in a variety of ways.
It is important to understand that what is traumatic for one person may not be for another.
As a result of traumatic events and distressing life experiences, some people develop symptoms that can make daily life and task completion difficult.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy found to be effective in treating PTSD.
