At Willow Counseling Services we understand that "just relax" does not always get us what we want. Fertility, Reproductive and Perinatal Health issues can be extremely impactful and devastating to every day life. We believe that during these times it can be helpful to seek support from a mental health clinician to address behavioral health wellness.

We are conveniently located in Dover, Delaware and offer individual as well as group psychotherapy to meet the needs of our patients. Often people lean on their closest friends and family during difficult moments of their lives, but sometimes that is just not enough. Needing additional support while struggling with infertility, perinatal mood disorders or reproductive issues is completely normal.

Research shows that women experiencing emotional pain stemming from infertility is similar to those dealing with cancer, HIV, and chronic pain. Some indicators of needing additional support include: overwhelming and persistent thoughts regarding the issue, anxieties, social isolation, conflict within relationships as well as thoughts of suicide or death.
Services
Throughout Alisha's career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker she has had the opportunity to work with different populations, but only noticed a gap in reproductive mental health when she was the one in need of support.
As she personally faced a reproductive health issue, she quickly joined a club that no one ever wants to be a part of.
The Infertility Club.
Almost immediately she began to realize how many others surrounding me were in this club that no one ever really talked about.
She started speaking with women she barely knew who shared some of the most difficult moments of their lives with her as well as their frustrations with the lack of mental health supports.
Clinician, Alisha McCanney will also be out of the office at this time.
If this is a mental health emergency please call 911 immediately.
If you are in need to speak to a Clinician immediately please contact Michelle Adams at 302-313-6956.
All scheduled sessions with Lindsay Griffin, Michelle Adams and Brooke Sharlow will be completed as scheduled.
If you are calling to inquire about becoming a new patient please leave your name and number and someone will return your call upon the opening of the administrative office.
The feelings experienced through infertility are often compared to a roller coaster, up one minute and down faster than you can blink.
A common topic that we often hear is how invalidated these feelings can be as infertility can be very isolating.
We set out to share other's perspectives and experiences in hopes that it may help someone not feel so alone throughout their own journey.
Each month will feature a new article from local men and women tackling topics that people face while going through infertility.
During the initial session we will discuss your current stressors as well as past history as those experiences can contribute to the way we will approach your treatment plan.
We understand that it is not easy to open up to a complete stranger so during the first visit it is completely up to you on how much you would like to share.
A treatment plan are the goals that we will be working towards.
These goals are anything from improving communication with your partner to how to handle walking past the baby section in Target.
