RICHARD BING, PH.D. & THE ADHD & CLINICAL COUNSELING CENTER. Dr. Richard Bing, Ph. D., Educator, Researcher, and Clinician, Specializes in the assessment and treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and frequent co-existing disorders such as Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Conduct Disorder (CD), Learning Disabilities, Anxiety and Depression.
Research indicates that mothers do not cause ADHD, but ADHD is usually inherited. However, maladaptive parental behavior management correlates with ODD and CD. In cases of comorbid ODD & CD, specialized behavior modification is usually critical. Traditional behavior modification needs to be modified in order to be effective with this population of disruptive behavior disorders.
Anxiety and depression are comorbid 50% of the time, and such conditions respond much better if more then just methylphenidate is Rx. For example, psychostimulants Rx for ADHD when anxiety is comorbid (anxiety comorbid 25% of the time) does not improve working memory (repeating digits backward task), a mental function essential for learning in school.
