New Connections Counseling & Consulting uses an integrative approach to mental well-being. We understand the connection among mind, body, and spirit. We recognize that our support systems - family, friends, work, and play - reflect how we deal with stress and life issues. By assessing the whole person, we then are able to identify the individual pieces that are disconnected and assist in developing coping mechanisms that enable these pieces to reconnect in a stronger, healthier way.

We deal with each of these areas by exploring an integrative approach leading to a healthy lifestyle and exploring the benefits of adapting that lifestyle to every facet of life. We provide cutting edge techniques that are unique and effective in creating positive change. They are Rapid Resolution Trauma (RRT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for those with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, or anxiety.

At New Connections we focus on life-cycle transitions such as marriage, birth, divorce, and personal loss.

Rachel has spent the majority of her career in the counseling field.
With an undergraduate degree in Exceptional Education from the University of Florida, and a Master of Science in Counselor Education from Florida International University, she possesses a solid foundation in mental health issues and treatments.
Rachel is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida.
Her professional experience has touched many walks of life, including several years providing counseling support to the United States Navy, and leading training in Post Traumatic Stress for the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Departments.
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and is a form of psychotherapy.
Francine Shapiro developed EMDR to treat trauma related disorders caused by distressing life experiences such as military combat, rape, abuse or other traumatic life events.
When a distressing life experience occurs, Shapiro theorized that the usual cognitive and neurological coping mechanisms become overwhelmed and the corresponding memory of the event is processed such that the memory is improperly stored, thus causing lingering problems.
Here is a brief overview of my process so that you will know that to expect from our sessions together.
I usually begin with an assessment, then I move through various techniques to help you achieve your best outcome.
I do make my patients as comfortable as I can, and gently guide them along their own path.
Each journey is an individual process for everyone.
No two are the same, though often they are similar.
You have every right to a live a richer life, happily appreciating each moment as it passes.
Often we get caught up in stress, other people's agendas and deadlines and inner calm and clarity becomes elusive, something for swamis, not real folks.
If you could re-evaluate, refresh and recharge, would you give yourself the time and permission to make it a success?
This will be a combination of coaching vs. therapy.
I'll offer you individualized relaxation techniques and help you arrive at some clarity on Purpose and Intent for your life.
