I am Dr. Annemarie Carroll, a licensed clinical psychologist and yoga teacher. My joy lies in integrating the wisdom of these traditions as I walk with clients and students on their journeys of growth and healing. Taking the leap and starting that journey is one of the bravest things anyone can do! I celebrate the bravery that brought you to my website and would be honored to continue to support that bravery all throughout our work together.
I believe that the deepest healing happens when we access and utilize the combined wisdom of the mind, body and spirit. My approach to both counseling and teaching is one that is based in self-compassion, simultaneously offering gratitude to our bodies for all they have done to keep us safe through our lived experiences, while at the same time accessing that deep Inner Wisdom that facilitates our ability to break old patterns and let go of things that no longer serve.
I would love to talk more with you about your journey and perhaps even walk with you as you take that next first step.

I'm a licensed clinical psychologist and yoga teacher.
My joy lies in integrating these traditions to support clients on their journeys of growth and healing.
My interest in this integration came out of my own personal experiences with meditation and yoga.
I first became curious about mindfulness and meditation as a teenager when I realized that "looking at" the chronic headaches I was having at the time made them less painful.
Yoga found me later as I searched for ways to manage the intense physical and emotional strain of fertility treatments.

I love working with super brave and curious women who want to access the wisdom from all aspects of themselves, mind, body and spirit, to promote deep growth and healing.
My approach to therapy involves integrating traditional talk therapy with mindfulness, meditation, breath work and gentle yoga.
I believe that the symptoms of stress or strain that we experience are simply patterns our nervous systems have developed over time to keep us safe when circumstances were overwhelming.
Together you and I will honor your nervous system's efforts and offer gratitude for them, while at the same time, supporting it in letting go of patterns and responses that are no longer needed.

Helping others heal can take a toll on our own wellness.
Thankfully what used to be negatively thought of as "burnout" is now better understood as vicarious trauma or compassion fatigue.
We now understand that walking with others on their paths of healing from physical and emotional trauma can create a trauma response in our own bodies.
Symptoms of this response can include: hypervigilance and hyperarousal, disturbances in eating and sleeping, loss of interest and joy, anger and irritation, numbing or avoidance, and feelings of loss of control or hopelessness about our work.
