Cypress Counseling is a naturally empathic therapy practice for children, adolescents and adults. We believe that people are naturally zestful and filled with joy for life, and that the natural relationship between any two human beings is loving affection, communication and cooperation. Cypress Counseling specializes in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, which aims to increase the client's self-awareness and understanding of the impact of the past on present behavior.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy can help people understand the roots of emotional distress, usually by exploring unconscious motives, needs and defenses. Therapy can be a safe and supportive place for you to explore who you are and the challenges you may be experiencing. We offer compassionate and confidential services in the heart of Richmond, Virginia.

I am now in private practice and work with individuals, couples, and groups using a humanistic approach to establish rapport and connecting to clients.

Psychotherapy consists of a series of techniques for treating mental health, emotional and some psychiatric disorders.
Psychotherapy helps people understand what helps them feel positive or anxious, as well as accepting themselves.
If people can identify their feelings and ways of thinking they become better at coping with difficult situations and can live with more joy and authentic happiness.
Psychotherapy can continue for several months, and even years.
Psychotherapy may be practiced on a one-to-one basis, in pairs or in groups.
