Beyond Broccoli
Change is at the core of what I help clients do. I began helping clients with identified "nutrition problems" and quickly learned that things often aren't that simple. Broccoli, a quintessential "health food" or "superfood, " represents the obvious with respect to nutrition. Everyone knows "broccoli is good for you." I wanted to explore beyond the obvious.

I believe helping people make changes to benefit their health must go beyond telling people what to eat (or not eat), beyond only considering the "what" of eating, we need to embrace the "how, when, where" and above all the "why" of eating. We also need to look beyond food at other lifestyle factors that impact our overall physical and mental health.

My passion for counseling and education related to nutrition naturally led me beyond, into the spaces where mental health and nutrition overlap. As I worked with clients to explore the complex web of factors that contribute to what they were doing (or not doing), they made progress towards their goals.

Eating is one of the most basic aspects of self-care.
Sadly, what was once a simple need to fulfill has become confusing, overly complicated, and too often a source of shame, anxiety or obsession for a lot of people.
An individual nutrition counseling session to discuss your goals and concerns is a time when it truly is all about you - in the best way.
It is easy to question your nutrition habits with so much advice about what to eat or avoid, including conflicting information from all kinds of "experts."
I prefer we work together.
You are the expert of your body, your story and your current lifestyle.
All of these things matter when you try to change the way you eat.
I share what I've learned about how nutrition applies to your personalized needs and goals.
Individual psychotherapy is a time to explore what keeps you from living the life you want to live.
Change is hard, even when it is something you want and/or need.
When you are feeling depressed, anxious or overwhelmed, it can be hard to know what needs to change to help you feel better.
I am here to listen to your story, with compassion and caring, and to help you figure out what keeps you stuck, what may move you forward, or help you be okay with where you are.
My goal is for you to feel empowered.
