Bridges Family Center is a counseling center that provides a variety of services for you and your family. Bridges serve an important role in allowing us to connect from one side of something to another. They give us clearance over and beyond obstacles that may otherwise interfere with our safe passage. Bridges also provide an opportunity to find connection between two places - a meeting in the middle.
But building a bridge is no easy task. It takes time and many specialized materials to build such a structure. Even once it's built, it needs ongoing maintenance to keep it strong and sturdy. In life, we may find ourselves facing obstacles that seem impassible or we may desperately need to find that middle ground. Essentially, we need a bridge in our life.
At Bridges Family Center, that's how we see counseling. Building a bridge can seem like a daunting task, but together with your counselor, you can create goals and find solutions that will help you and your family find safe passage over and beyond any issue.

At Bridges Family Center, we understand that children see and do things differently than adults, including how they communicate.
Because of these differences, children need treatment that is specialized to meet their developmental needs.
This allows them alternate ways to process their thoughts and feelings.
Our approach to treatment combines the use of play and art therapy with cognitive behavioral therapy.
This gives children a means to communicate their thoughts and feelings and engage in a hands-on approach to learning new skills.

As parents, the adolescent years are often some of the hardest.
Parents are charged with the responsibility of keeping their teen safe, teaching them to make healthy choices that will not impair their future success, and giving them the skills they need to function as an adult.
But, to make that task just a little harder, we add the developmental challenges of adolescents.
These include changes in hormones, a surge of independence, and an increase in impulsivity.
Suddenly, life becomes a rollercoaster with no end in sight.

Family is often quoted as being one of the top five "most important" things listed in an individual's life.
And, while you certainly didn't ask for them, you can't trade them.
Out of the billions of human beings on our planet, they will have some of the greatest imprints on our lives.
But families are complicated.
For all the love that is present in a family, these deep relationships can carry lots of baggage and hurt as well.
Poor communication, changes in the family unit, and the stress of daily life can test even the strongest of families.
