Services
Psychological Assessment is the process of evaluating an individual's emotional and psychological functioning and making recommendations for improved mental health.
For senior adults, he assesses for dementia, depression, safety, independent living, and substance and alcohol abuse challenges.
Dr. Minter has provided evaluations for other psychologists and counselors, for psychiatrists, neurologists, pediatricians, surgeons, and primary care physicians.
He has also performed assessments for the State of Florida's Department of Disability Determinations, Vocational Rehabilitation Department, Public Defender's Office, and Department of Juvenile Justice.
Because the mental health field is broad and encompasses a number of specialties, Dr. Minter often encounters confusion when it comes to which provider does what.
The chart above should help clarify terms such as "psychiatrist" and "psychologist" and what the differences are between specialties.
Most importantly, psychiatrists are physicians who treat mental health challenges with medicine and sometimes with talk.
Psychologists, by contrast, treat mental health challenges with talk and other behavioral strategies.
When obtaining mental health care cost is usually a consideration.
For clients wishing to use insurance, Dr. Minter is in-network for Medicare, Humana, Aetna, Coventry, MHNet, Cigna, Meridian, Tricare and other carriers.
If you have questions about insurance, please speak to Debbie at 813-704-4592.
Individuals in other networks currently closed to new providers, such as Florida Blue and United Health Care (United Behavioral Health), can still see Dr. Minter on an "out-of-network" basis.
In those cases client pay for services out of pocket; the office will then issue a "superbill" which can be filed with the insurance company for reimbursement.
Informed Consent for Treatment: You may either bring in the form in its entirety with any questions you may have, or wait until after your first appointment.
Over the last year, Dr. Minter has had an increasing number of potential new clients who no-show scheduled first appointments.
This creates a business and clinical problem, because existing clients are often waiting for those times.
As a result, Dr. Minter now requires a $75 deposit to hold a first appointment slot.
This deposit will be held against any financial obligations to the practice and refunded promptly when financial obligations are met.
Many people are confused as to what it means to be a Christian.
In addition, the abundance of silly things being said by preachers and done by Christians is truly disturbing for those who value the Bible as the source of spiritual truth.
Some may be curious about Dr. Minter's own story of coming to faith in Christ; you can read it here.
