Services
Path Light Counseling is a clinical therapy practice owned by Talkin Porch, LLC and operated by Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Bill Seery.
For over 30 years, Bill has been meeting privately with clients to deal with a wide variety of issues such as marriage, depression, anxiety, the lasting effects of childhood trauma, addiction and strategic parenting.
Bill is the writer and co-producer of a training video for parents and a curriculum for parents of teens.
He's also involved in community development programs and is available for public speaking.
For personal or relationship issues, in a private therapy setting, we can understand and address a wide variety of problems and concerns in new ways that are tailored to the real need.
Individual therapy offers specialized, personal attention for addressing issues of concern and forming strategies for the future.
One plus one adds up to much more than two in a growing marriage.
The goal of marital therapy is to strengthen, heal and develop relationships.
For this, we find powerful solutions for difficult problems that have become obstacles to success.
There are a number of ways to talk about what most people call "addiction".
Those in the medical field say it's about being "dependent", usually on a substance but also a behavior.
Within recovery circles, addiction is about denial, betrayal and acting out of a type of insanity.
Those who have been touched by addiction and those who try to help will agree one thing at least.
Whatever name we choose, it leaves a long trail of debris consisting of broken relationships that might have made it, lost childhoods, lost jobs, twisted families, wasted money, betrayed trust and grief, not only for the person who is using but for family and friends as well.
People in the helping professions such as pastors, rabbis, therapists, teachers or social workers often find themselves stumped or frustrated by the 'tough cases'.
In a clinical setting, a tough case may be an individual client or couple that does not seem to be responding to treatment.
In organizations a tough case can be a person who seems to be involved, may share the same beliefs, or even asks for help, yet somehow every effort returns empty.
Sometimes the tough cases become part of the organization's leadership bringing drama or conflict that distracts from the goal.
I personally schedule all my appointments either by phone, in person, and in some cases by email.
Typically, as a new client, you would start out by calling me, Bill Seery at the Path Light phone number to express your interest in counseling.
We'll talk briefly about the terms and parameters of therapy and answer any questions about concerns you may have about the fee structure or how therapy may fit with your philosophy or spirituality.
If you like you can share your basic reasons for looking into therapy or wait til we meet to elaborate.
