Professional counseling is different from talking to one of your friends or a member of your family. While family and friends want to be helpful and understanding, none of them have 'walked in your shoes.' There is value in spending time with a trained 'listener' who has been exposed to education in the therapeutic process. There are many marvelous techniques that have been developed over the last 40 years which can be pulled from to address your challenges.
Depression, anxiety, and other mood issues are treated with compassionate listening and feedback on changes you can help you feel better. The goal is to 'hear' you, delve into what makes life so much less than it can be, and move you toward a life that is fulfilling-a better YOU. I am extensively licensed, trained, and skilled in interventional techniques used to achieve best results in the counseling process.
At the first session, I gather history and ask questions designed to evaluate and plan treatment. At the second session, we present a Plan of Care using the goals for your recovery that you expressed.
