I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I enjoy working with individuals and couples as well as children of all ages, with particular expertise working with women and members of the gender and sexual diversity (GSD) community. I welcome families of all stripes who are looking for a safe and nonjudgmental place to sort through the hard work of making a family work for everyone involved.
As a former women's self-defense instructor, I bring to my work an understanding of the issues of violence, harassment and abuse that women can face in their everyday lives as well as knowledge about possible solutions. My style is interactive and straightforward. I have experience with brief therapy as well as longer term work. I have a particular interest in working with cultural outsiders or the cultural homeless.
This can include anyone who has moved or traveled frequently in their lives ('Global Nomads' or 'Third Culture Kids'). You may be from a military or international business background, peace corp, missionary family or have immigrated to the US within two generations.
