I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Arizona (license # LPC-15211) and an EMDR trained therapist through the EMDR Institute. I received my bachelors from the University of Michigan and my Masters Degree from Prescott College. I am eclectic in my approach using a foundation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Person Centered Psychotherapies (PCT).
CBT helps my clients with exploring and creating more adaptive coping skills, emotions and behaviors through examining and shifting the negative thought processes and the emotions that can create negative behaviors. DBT assists in learning to regulate emotions, acquire more tolerance for stressful situation, being present and in the moment, and being effective in how you relate to others.
A Person Centered approach to therapy and coaching, means that I believe that my clients have the ability to take charge of their lives and already have the wisdom and ability to heal inside of them.

Services
All people have an innate wisdom and knowledge to make good choices for their lives.
Sometimes we just need a little additional support, insight or fresh perspective to see with clarity.
In a therapy session, clients are guided, educated and facilitated to personal empowerment and healing.
With a little support and encouragement, we are all capable of obtaining the fulfilled and happy lives we deserve.

No one knows how any form of psychotherapy works neurobiologically or in the brain.
Furthermore, even the most enthusiastic supporters of EMDR cannot explain why EMDR is so effective.
At this point, only theories exist.
However, we do know that when a person is very upset, their brain cannot process information as it does ordinarily.
Normal life events are usually processed in a healthy fashion via the cortex and stored appropriately.
Even traumatic situations can be processed and stored properly if the right coping tools and emotional skills are in place.

Prior to being trained in EMDR, I had spent many years working as a cognitive behavioral therapist and had great success with my clients.
Initially, I heard about EMDR through clients who had partners who returned from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars severely traumatized.
These clients reported that upon their return, life at home was chaos until the returning soldier did EMDR and things began to improve.
I heard this enough times that I was very intrigued!
Having completed the training, I began using this technique with client's who were making slow progress in therapy and I was astounded with the results.
