My name is Jennifer Rossi, and I am a clinical psychologist in private practice with offices serving the Central Oregon Coast, primarily in the towns of Coos Bay, Reedsport, and Florence. I provide counseling for: adolescents and adults, individuals, couples, and families. My specialties include: depression, anxiety, bereavement/loss, interpersonal problems, physical/sexual abuse, stress management, and psychological testing.

I believe that as a therapist, my primary goal is to help people lead more fulfilling lives by providing them with the tools necessary to accurately identify and constructively address the specific issues that are causing them to feel overwhelmed, unhappy, or in conflict with their own emotions.

Assuming that you did not arrive at my website in error, the fact that you are reading these words at this very moment suggests that you care enough about yourself and those whom you love to improve the quality of your existence and hopefully theirs in return-which is a very positive first step in the right direction!

Psychotherapy may be described as a verbal process wherein a trained professional, knowledgeable in the field of treating emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric disorders, forms a contractual therapeutic relationship with either a single individual, couple, or group of individuals for the sole purpose of alleviating or lessening deleterious patterns of behavior, dysfunctional forms of communicating, or emotional distress.
Psychotherapists listen carefully to their clients' self-reported concerns, complaints, and goals, ask specific questions in order to fully interpret and evaluate the nature of their clients' emotional condition, and then together with their client, formulate an action plan to address the specific issues at hand.
In general, people of all ages form their views of the world and define their role in interpersonal relationships based upon past experiences, both good and bad.
These past experiences shape an individual's capacity to interpret and adapt to their surroundings and emotions, and in the end, have a great influence on their current pattern of thinking.
Through no fault of their own, for instance in such a case where some traumatic event or adverse personal interaction has taken place, people's thought processes may become influenced and modified to such a non-adaptive degree, that when a similar event or interaction occurs, an individual responds in a manner that is not beneficial to their own emotional well-being or to those around them-such as their life partners, their children, their friends, or their co-workers.
Psychologists typically use a combination of different therapeutic techniques in order to help their clients, and the style that they employ at any given time is often dependent upon the scope and focus of their training, the specific needs of their clients, and the unique relationship that they form with their clients.
In my practice, I choose to primarily draw upon a blend of two major therapeutic approaches, those associated with aspects of both Cognitive Behavioral Theory and Psychodynamic Theory.
I will make every effort to schedule an appointment in one of my three offices that works best for you; however, due to practical reasons, I am only at certain office locations on particular days.
Please call ahead of time to schedule an appointment, as I do not accept walk-ins and please do not forward any documentation to any of my three physical office locations, as I have a separate mailing address for such correspondence.
