Deborah Ejiofor is a New Jersey Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor (NCC) with the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). Deborah earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison New Jersey.

When anxiety interferes with the enjoyment of life it can lead to depression; there are a number of other issues that can to depression, such as hormone imbalance, genetics, side effects of medication and disease.
Depression does not discriminate who it affects by age, gender or race; it can affect anyone at any point in their lives including children and adolescents.
The emptiness and loneliness caused by depression can make it difficult for individuals to perform simple activities of daily life, such as getting out of bed in the morning, showering, eating and going to school or work.
Nearly everyone worries occasionally, however, excessive worry have been known to lead to anxiety.
It may be natural to be nervous or anxious in certain situations, such as, when we experience a threat; healthy anxiety gears us up to fight or run, so we can protect ourselves from harm.
Anxiety can also motivate us to get out of a bad situation, such as an unhealthy relationship or toxic job.
However anxiety and worry that do not motivate us to protect ourselves are false alarms to the body, this type of anxiety can interfere with normal daily functions of life and can be damaging to one's wellbeing.
It can be heart-wrenching to realize that your parents, once strong and self-sufficient, are no longer able to look after themselves, perhaps Mom or Dad has fallen and broken a hip, has become disoriented and wandered off, or has been diagnosed with a serious medical condition.
