Whether you're struggling with post traumatic stress, anxiety, or substance use, it is important that you know you don't have to be alone in this journey. My name is Steve Taylor, and I understand no two individuals are the same. With a lot of input from you we will find the approach and tools that most effectively address your pain. We will work together to understand the root cause(s) of your struggles so that you can recover through either traditional counseling, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, or a combination of both.
My goal is to help you reach the life you desire, free from what has been holding you back. About Me (it's not about me) I could start off this section by listing my credentials and clinical experience but that would be boring.

Really, what you want to know is, do I understand what you're going through?
Can I help you with anxiety?
Do I know how get rid of your trauma symptoms?
First, I want to let you know that I'm someone who understands on a personal level what it's like to experience and overcome problems like trauma, substance use, depression, and anxiety.
I know what it's like to wake up feeling afraid to get out of bed and face the day.

Anxiety is like watching a scary movie and bracing yourself to be afraid, but nothing happens, so you're just constantly on-edge waiting.
Then there's panic attacks which literally feel like your dying.
You go to the hospital only to find out "there's" nothing wrong with you.
The sense of always being a little afraid that an anxiety attack is waiting around the corner.
They come on seemingly out of nowhere and you feel that shortness of breath, the pounding chest, the feeling the walls are closing in and you need out NOW! Anxiety attacks can be terrifying.

Someone you love dies unexpectedly.
A car accident.
A rape or sexual assault.
Neglect, betrayal, or abandonment in childhood.
War.
A trauma is anything that overwhelms a person's ability to cope.
Traumas can be a one time event (like a death or an accident), or they may be repeated over time (such as being in an abusive relationship).
You may recover on your own after a few weeks or months.
On the other hand, you may have post traumatic stress in the form of unpleasant symptoms such as feeling "on guard" at all times, intrusive memories or flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety (including panic attacks, phobias), muscle tension, difficulty sleeping, addictive behavior, shame, depression, avoiding situations, and general fear.

I love this quote because it's so true when it comes to the positive effects of Accelerated Resolution Therapy.
Imagine experiencing the sudden and tragic loss of the person you love the most in this world.
After losing this person, you can't stop from seeing images in your mind of them passing away.
It's causing nightmares, anxiety, depression and outbursts of anger.
To make things worse, you're afraid that if you seek help for the traumatic memories, and recover from them, that you'll only be losing the person again.

You are going to bed at night and waking up in the morning telling yourself, I'm done with this.
I mean it this time.
No more drinking.
Or it sounds something like, This is the last time.
I'm cutting down, and by next week, I'm done.
Maybe you get a few days, weeks, or months, but when the stress hits, you always go back to it.
The thing is, when you told yourself, "I'm done", you meant it.
If we hooked you up to a lie detector test you would have passed.
But for some reason you keep going back.
