All relationships have ups and downs, and conflict goes with the territory.
Conflict is an inevitable part of a committed, romantic relationship.
Conflicts cause negative thoughts, bad feelings, and what was once a good relationship, now becomes strained.
When a relationship becomes strained, every topic of conversation will turn into a fight.
Providing teens with the opportunity to take part in their own counseling allows them to further develop skills which promote independence.
Teenagers today are under a lot of pressure and stress.
Adolescents and teens who come to counseling will inevitably improve their overall functioning at home, school, within the family, with peers and in social environments.
Oftentimes changes in your child's attitude and behavior are good indicators that they might be struggling to cope with something in their life.
When parents are separating or divorcing they are filled with guilt when seeing the pain this is causing their children.
Children start to feel alone and are scared.
Counseling will help your child/children adjust a lot sooner.
Children have a lot to say but are afraid to say the wrong thing.
They do not want their parents to be angry with them.
Some kids feel they will get into trouble with the other parent or say something s that will hurt their feelings.
Below is a list of what you can expect when bringing your child for counseling.
A person who is suffering from Trauma/ or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) may feel as if they "are going crazy".
That is why it is important to get as much education about PTSD so you can understand its effects and realize you will get better.
Understanding and addressing the symptoms, while processing the feelings related to the trauma can also help with getting better.
Trauma shatters a person's sense of safety and trust in others so building or rebuilding the ability to trust other people is a key part of treatment.
Many people are confused when trying to describe their symptoms of depression and anxiety.
The reason for the confusion is how similar the symptoms are between depression and anxiety.
However, although similar in symptoms, depression and anxiety disorders are not the same.
The symptoms that are similar are caused by Neurotransmitters in your brain.
Neurotransmitters cause symptoms of depression, emotions of hopelessness, despair and anger.
Your mind tries to figure out what is wrong and oftentimes you will find yourself feeling more confused and out of sync.
