Appoquinimink Counseling Services, LLC was established in 2008 by Dawn Schatz, LCSW to provide quality, personal outpatient mental health counseling services in the ever-growing Middletown community in which she lives. While many living outside of the MOT (Middletown-Odessa-Townsend) area find "Appoquinimink" difficult to say (and spell), Dawn purposely chose this name for its local relevance and familiarity.

We recognize that for many people, the decision to enter into therapy or even to make that initial call, is not made lightly.
It's common to question the "need" for therapy, and you may question this yourself, although by doing so, it is important to note that you are already minimizing and/or placing judgment on your experience and feelings.
Rather than asking yourself, "Do I need therapy?", it might be more helpful to ask yourself what the minimum benefit of therapy might be, e.g.
Have you felt unhappy, easily irritated, anxious, lethargic, moody or angry for a period of time?

While we prefer and believe in the benefits of in-person therapy, we recognize that the convenience of teletherapy has created greater accessibility for many people and we do offer teletherapy for clients as clinically appropriate.
