To become an LPC, I first had to earn my undergraduate degree as well as a Master's degree in Community Counseling.
My education included formal instruction as well as a practicum and internship.
Next I was required to pass a national examination proving proficiency in my field.
Both of these designations insure that you will be seeing a professional who is highly trained and held accountable to the highest governing bodies in his field of practice.
