Services
Wellness & Courage was founded by 2 cousins, who had a shared dream to create a team of like-minded professionals with a desire to help others live their best lives.
Wendy Johnson Poole and Jamy Hunter are third cousins and had never met.
The two were introduced by other family members in 2016.
Wendy and Jamy immediately had a connection and knew that they shared a passion for helping others and wanting to create a team of other practitioners who had the same passion.
Wellness & Courage was born in 2017.
Every relationship has its ups and downs.
That's why it can be challenging to know when you need help in your relationship.
It is common for one or both partners to be unhappy, feel disconnected, or feel that their needs for intimacy aren't being met at any time in a relationship.
The majority of couples tend to seek therapy when they are at the end of their rope and "if counseling doesn't work then the marriage is over."
Rather than viewing therapy as the last straw to a crisis, you can look at it as a preventative measure in creating a long-lasting and healthy relationship for both partners involved.
Occasional anxiety is a normal part of life.
You might feel anxious when faced with a problem at work, before taking a test, or making an important decision.
But anxiety disorders involve more than temporary and occasional worry or fear.
For a person with an anxiety disorder, the anxiety does not go away and can get worse over time.
The feelings can interfere with daily activities such as job performance, school work, and relationships.
There are several different types of anxiety disorders.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder- excessive, exaggerated worry and/or fear about everyday life events with no obvious reasons.
One result of trauma is that the brain (and body) thinks you are back in the trauma when triggered by something in the environment.
EMDR therapy helps you reprocess and desensitize your trauma, to retrain your brain into understanding that you are NOT still living in that memory.
It allows you to take some control back in your life.
It is a specialized procedure for resolving trauma or loss of memories.
Briefly, it involves having the client concentrate on the worst moment of the memory while incorporating bilateral stimulation; this is repeated with different aspects of the memory until no further distress remains.
Therapy through play is a counseling method used to help children communicate their inner experiences through the use of toys and play.
Therapy through play is also called child-centered therapy and/or play therapy and is a non-pathologizing technique based on the belief that children have the internal drive to achieve wellness.
Through play, therapists may help children learn healthier behaviors when there are emotional or social skills deficits.
The positive relationship that develops between therapist and child during play therapy sessions can provide emotional experience necessary for healing.
