So what's with all this alphabet soup? MS, NCC, LPC, CSPS, CSG huh? All of this speaks to my training and certifications. My profession demands standards to insure that each individual gets the specialized care he, she, or they need. MS indicates the type of degree I have - a Master's of Science in Community Counseling. I received My National Certification as a Counselor (NCC) in 1998, which means I am board certified.

I obtained my License as a Professional Counselor by the state of Georgia (LPC) in 2003. I became a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor, CPCS, in 2014. I have a varied career that has seen me start out creative, transition to the technical, then switch to the interpersonal.

I graduated with a Bachelor's of Fine Art (BFA) degree in 1981 from the University of Montevallo, Alabama, and then received another Bachelors of Science (BS) degree in Computer & Information technology in 1986 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The latter led to mainly computer hardware jobs with what was then BellSouth (now AT&T) where I worked for 11 years.

So what is psychotherapy?
It's basically "talk therapy" whereby individuals use new communication tools and personal relational insights taught by a trained, preferably licensed, professional.
The scope of psychotherapy then is to help persons work through their problems.
It can be somewhat difficult to bridge the gap between saying "Hello" to discussing deeper matters, for example, childhood trauma.
That's where my gifts come into play.
I work to provide each client, no matter what stirred their hearts to attempt counseling, with unconditional understanding & acceptance.
I provide Clinical Supervision for students who are in their final year of graduate school during their Practicum and Internship experiences as they work toward a Master's Degree.
I have worked with both Richmont Graduate University and Mercer University students, since 2003.
For those who have graduated & are looking for either Individual or Group LPC supervision in order to obtain licensure through the State of Georgia, I am a Certified Professional Counselors Supervisor (CSPS) granted through the ethics committee of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association (LPCA) of Georgia.
2. Do I take insurance?
What about payments?
I am only on a few panels, the major plans I accept are BCBS, CHAMPVA, & Cigna, so please verify your coverage with your insurance carrier prior to arrival.
4. Do I have a cancellation policy?
Unless previously discussed, there is a $100 flat charge for notice that is less than 24 hours.
This holds for insurance users, those paying out of pocket, group members, and reduced fee patients.
The full session rate will be charged to a credit card on file if no communication is made prior to appointment.
