People are resilient.
YOU are resilient!
Generally, you handle life, you bounce back.
Sometimes, though, things happen and you need more.
It makes sense: your body can throw off a cold or flu bug, but if you break your leg, you don't tell yourself to tough it out and walk around limping the rest of your life, do you?
We offer conventional and animal assisted adult and child/adolescent individual therapy and group counseling.
Specializing in treating PTSD, trauma, depression, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, grief issues, anger management, behavioral difficulties, sexual abuse issues and family of origin issues.
The physiological reaction we call anger is the "fight" part of the "flight, fight or freeze" response to perceived threat.
That's also why it's also called a secondary emotion: first you feel something else, and as a defense or cover for that emotion, the flight/fight/freeze reflex activates.
Do you feel listened to?
Does the therapist give you a sense of hope, that you are having a normal response to an abnormal situation?
Do you feel supported and do you want to come back, even after a difficult session?
If you answer no to these questions, it can be hard for you to make the progress you need.
Plan for your success: talk to some therapists, ask them about their approach to counseling and their beliefs.
This is your life, and your healing.
Many people think trauma is a dangerous or life-threatening event that occurs.
You can print these from the website, fill them out and bring them in with you.
Or, you can do it at the office.
