Services
With over 17 years of professional counseling experience, I have enjoyed working with individuals, children and families in outpatient and inpatient settings, from different economic and cultural backgrounds, and with mild-to-severe levels of trauma and behavioral issues.
In addition, I have had the privilege to work with college students (youth, or in the prime of life) for over 4 years, including students with disabilities.
My primary theoretical approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I view therapy as a collaborative effort where we work together to find the best path toward peace and healing for you, your child, or your family.
After the last decade of working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum, both at home and professionally I have learned that treatment requires many different puzzle pieces be addressed.
CONCRETE LANGUAGE: Both children and adults will interpret things very literally - and it impacts their understanding of others and themselves.
KNOWING WHAT TO DO, BUT NOT WHEN TO DO IT: People on the Spectrum can feel very overwhelmed and confused by other's actions and expectations of behavior.
HIGH ANXIETY, ANGRY OUTBURSTS, SHUTTING DOWN: Learning techniques of self-soothing and healthy self-talk is a struggle for those with an ASD.
Many parents have concerns with the behavior of their children, yet are unsure where to go for help.
Asking for help or advice from friends and family is not always comfortable, nor is it always helpful.
As a parent, you know your child better than anyone.
You know the day to day reality of the challenges you face.
At LifeStream Family Counseling, we can work together to combine your knowledge of your child along with my knowledge of child development, parenting strategies, and mental health concerns to help you find valuable insight.
Relationships are a big part of life.
Families who are more relationally connected to each other offer more protection to children for many of the risks they may face.
Whether your family struggles are with a spouse, a child, a teen, or some other extended family member, at LifeStream Family Counseling, we can work together to help you all develop comfort with emotions and the know how to combine this with improved communication skills so that your family's relationships can improve.
One of my practice's specialties is partnering with you to recognize styles of communication (including 'co-dependence') that may be contributing to struggles in your relationships.
Here at LifeStream Family Counseling, I realize that no two people are the same, and I tailor my therapy to meet your specific needs as an individual.
I love helping people understand the things that are holding them back with an in-depth approach.
After recognizing underlying problems, clients can fully realize their strengths and adjust certain behaviors and thoughts to see things a different, healthier way.
My practice specializes in treating ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Anxiety, and through years of experience, I'm confident that no problem is too great to overcome.
