I have a warm and relational style with my patients. This means I won't sit in silence staring at you the whole session. While I believe in allowing enough space for you to explore your own thoughts, I tend to be more of an active therapist. For me, psychotherapy is a unique type of relationship that facilitates emotional growth and integration of past patterns.
I believe that when we feel accurately seen and understood (without judgment and criticism!) it can be relieving and energizing. I view therapy as a two-person process; the caring, empathetic therapeutic relationship is what enables us to risk exposing our deepest vulnerabilities (without shame!) Psychotherapy, at it's core, loosens the grip on us of unconscious patterns of relating and meaning-making that cause us pain.
I hope to provide this hopeful and vitalizing experience for my patients. People come to me to talk about relationships, sex, anxiety, depression, career or school issues, loss, identity, building confidence and self-esteem, family issues, body image, old patterns, chronic pain or health issues, creative blocks, procrastination, among other things.
