Serving the diverse needs of our community in the Washington, DC metro area. We are an experienced group of gay, lesbian and bisexual mental health professionals dedicated to meeting your unique counseling needs. LGBTQ Counseling was founded to promote awareness of the special skills our members offer to the LGBT community, their allies, and the general public.
Our membership collectively offers a range of services, experience, specializations, and expertise. Beyond serving as a resource for those seeking therapy, we see ourselves as having a role in fostering the well-being of the LGBTQ community. But just because many in-person celebrations are canceled, doesn't mean that Pride Month is. This June we'll just celebrate a bit differently.
As I was reflecting on the upcoming LGBTQ+ Pride event in DC, Capital Pride, I thought back to some of last year's events and messaging. I was reminded of the protest during last year's parade by members of the Queer Community, including trans folks and People of Color.

Services
Your sexual or romantic orientation or gender identity may not be a source of distress.
Yet people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, or any other type of non-conforming sexual or gender identity (known as LGBT, LGBTQ, or LGBTQIA, among others) may find that the social stigma of living as a sexual minority is a source of stress or anxiety.
When seeking counseling, whether for issues associated with your sexual, romantic, or gender identity or for everyday concerns, finding a qualified mental health professional who has experience and familiarity with issues that confront the LGBTQ community can be critical to helping you find the solutions you're looking for.

All of us accept "fee for service" meaning payment is paid by you directly to your provider and you are given a receipt that can be submitted to any insurance and/or health care spending account for reimbursement according to the specifics of your particular plan.
Some of us will file claims for you and either direct their payment to you (if you have paid for the session in full), or to your provider (who will bill you for the portion your insurer has not paid).
Those of us who are out-of-network for your plan would do one of the two options above.

We serve the needs of the Greater Washington metro area, with offices in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
