Sterman Counseling and Assessment was established in 2005 to promote strength-based mental health and evaluation services. Together, the clinicians at Sterman Counseling and Assessment have been providing the highest quality mental health services for over 25 years. The mission of Sterman Counseling and Assessment is to provide the highest quality and most comprehensive strength-based mental health services to individuals, couples, and families.

Our approach emphasizes accessing each person's unique strengths and resources in order to facilitate growth, new learning, and fulfillment. Our primary focus is on psychotherapy with individuals, couples, and families. Based on an integrative approach, we utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities as a framework for encouraging growth. Therapeutic services are provided in a relaxed, caring environment where client and therapist work collaboratively toward mutually agreed-upon goals.

Given the highly diverse community in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, we believe that an active awareness of the impact of the cultural context and an individual's unique strengths, conflicts, and life experiences is essential to helping individuals achieve fulfillment and balance.
