I understand, from first-hand experience, what many of my clients are going through.
Childhood isn't always easy, and factors outside kids' control can prevent them from reaching their goals and dreams.
As a child, I suffered from severe allergies - made worse by the rich farmland in the area where I grew up.
I either struggled through lessons with the distractions of labored breathing and a constant runny nose, or I felt drowsy and foggy from anti-allergy medications.
My teachers labeled me average and half-heartedly encouraged me to "try harder, " which wore down my confidence.

Young children don't yet have the developmental awareness to know why their big feelings overtake them in stressful situations.
They simply know that they hurt, and they want to feel better.
They also need help learning how to solve problems for themselves.
Along the way, parents need to know that their child's unique challenges don't define them.
Your child is so much more than anxiety, ADHD or a learning disorder, and I see that.
Sessions with children revolve around skill-building, play and creativity, and I get the joy of discovering each beautiful little person underneath the challenges or struggles.

I tell teens that, from the time they were born, their parents already signed up to handle everything their children will do in life - good, bad or indifferent.
As I work with your teen to develop coping skills and strategies for navigating school and their all-important social lives, I will help you better understand your teen and access tools to be a better parent.
The teenage years are a huge transition point for both of you, but you can come through them with a closer parent/child relationship.

Kids with anxiety carry such a huge burden on their shoulders, but parents can be their soft place to land.
That doesn't mean parents remove all obstacles in their children's lives.
It means they learn to support their anxious child through emotional moments and show love and confidence no matter what happens.
As a parent, you likely feel as if you're walking on eggshells around your anxious child, and you have probably learned that you can't reason your child out of her fears.
However, you can help your child find the freedom to fail.
