As a Berkeley Psychologist, Dr. Lynn Winsten can tell you it takes courage to face what may be wrong. After many years of intensive training and many more years practicing psychotherapy, I have seen that people can address their suffering and come to a place of greater peace within as well as improve their relationships, work concerns, and lives overall.

My approach is to use a deep understanding of one's life to resolve these problems. My intent is to elucidate our relationship as well as one's current relationships, feelings, and experiences, to come to terms with what is truly wrong and resolve these difficulties. I will help you to identify true impasse and move forward to find how your own true and authentic self knows what is truly best for your own life, and how to achieve your goals and intentions.

Have you experienced events in your life that were so stressful they would cause anyone to shut down their feelings and only have horrid thoughts that plague you (flashbacks) or have powerful feelings that disrupt your life but you have no memories to recall to account for them.
Services
My training in Clinical Psychology has extended throughout my 30 year professional career.
My first experiences as a clinician were in the hospitals and clinics of New York City where I trained to work with people with all levels and types of psychological problems; I specialized in the treatment of pain and other physical disorders with a psychological component.
When I came to California 30 years ago I quickly found that people with histories of abuse, trauma, neglect, domestic violence and substance abuse were drawn to working with me.
Anxiety is an emotion that lets us know something has happened to frighten us.
You might feel shaky, or tongue-tied, irritable, and uneasy in social situations, or find yourself full of worry, concerned often with "what if", or perhaps you feel terror, or unable to stop the uncomfortable feelings and repetitive thoughts.
Anxiety rears its head when we try new things, meet new people, and do new things.
If you experience anxiety often or intensely, you may know that there are both healthy and unhealthy coping strategies and some that help in the long run and others that are short-term fixes.
As a Therapist in Berkeley, I use the most advanced treatments and methods for mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.
With my affordable and highly effective approach to therapy, I can help any individual find hope and healing.
Across California and the city of Berkeley, individuals are dealing with the hidden struggles of mental health.
Many people suffer from anxiety, depression, and other mental health problems.
A trained therapist can help alleviate symptoms and provide a path to better mental health.
My approach at the outset is to attend to any ongoing crises in your life which involve relationship problems, or difficulties with feelings and emotions, or other troubling experiences.
I am trained as a Relational Psychodynamic Psychotherapist.
This means we will explore what factors in your life might be contributing to these feelings and experiences or relationship problems.
In other words, the therapy will link up your prior life experiences with what is troubling you today.
I also use our relationship to inform us as to what might be causing your concerns.
When we are low in self-esteem, have trouble believing in ourselves; have problems knowing who we are and finding things that bring us gratification; find we have serious problems in relating to others like avoiding connection, or trying too hard and putting up with people who do not see us, hear us for real, and do not value who we really are, or even are putting up with verbal, emotional or physical abuse; or maybe do have emotion but it is too intense, or perhaps we cannot seem to access our feelings and emotions; or when our thoughts are fearful, negative, or self attacking - we are probably people who were mistreated as children.
