Taking care of your mental health needs is important in reaching a healthy quality of life. Hi, my name is Crystal Antle and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area. I decided in the third grade that I wanted to be a social worker-but the "good kind." As a child, I had already met a social worker that didn't question enough or care enough, at least it seemed, to dig deeper into the situation at hand.

This made an impression on me. I wanted to do better, listen harder, advocate more and help those who were having trouble helping themselves. I was fortunate enough to go on to meet some fabulous examples of social workers - social workers that showed others how to change their perceptions of life, and who taught them how to re-frame their negative thoughts.

I am a believer in the power of therapy.
I believe that it can move you to achieve goals that you never thought possible.
I believe that the most effective counseling is counseling in which both therapist and client are vested to meet the stated goals of the client.
I believe that a good therapist will help you learn how to help yourself and will meet you where you are.
I will never talk above you and I will never make you feel "less than".
We all struggle in life.
You cannot put life in a pretty box with a shiny bow-it's messy.
My interest in borderline personality disorder has been there as long as I can remember.
Millions of people suffer from it, right here in the United States.
Not only does the person with the disorder suffer but their families do as well.
And by suffer, I mean in a big way.
The cutting, bleeding, feelings of emptiness, binging, purging, violence, isolation, drug abuse, law breaking behavior, suicidal gestures, impulsiveness, poor relationships, and fear of abandonment are just some of the behaviors you may be living with.
I have spent much of my life researching and learning as much about eating disorders as possible.
They are made up of a very complex blend of social, psychological, behavioral, organic, and environmental factors.
They can happen at any age and affect males or females.
It is important of course, to stop the behavior ASAP, but then we need to figure out why you feel compelled to complete this behavior to begin with.
It is not necessary to have a formal diagnosis of an eating disorder to seek therapy, but I WILL insist that you are receiving medical and nutritional care as well, as your health could be in jeopardy.
There are now a myriad of weight loss procedures and surgeries that are being performed, and south Louisiana has our fair share.
Our lack of activity, party culture, rich foods and fast-paced high-stress lives do not help those who are struggling with weight issues.
And culturally, we often join at the dinner table to celebrate family or friends and connect.
It's just part of who we are.
Mixing emotional issues with a people that often celebrate with food can make maintaining a healthy lifestyle difficult.
Being part of a family can be rewarding, but also taxing at times.
Conflicts can occur that cause the unit to flounder.
In family therapy, it is of the utmost importance for the therapist to not take sides or be biased when treating the family.
I can help you and your family to resolve conflict as a neutral third party, then help you to develop and nurture your relationships with one another.
It is essential that each family member feel supported and that their feelings are expressed - I will do my best to ensure that just that happens.
