Services
This group is to help build awareness, sensitivity, understanding in parents and family members of Trans or non-binary individuals while providing space for support and connection for family members and allies.
The Parent and Ally Group will provide information and education surrounding gender, gender expression, and the different levels and journeys a loved one may be going through.
Though there is a lot of valuable information that will be offered, there will also be space to provide and receive support as they follow their own journey toward becoming an ally.
Anxiety in-and-of-itself is not a pathology.
Anxiety starts the protective response to danger that boosts heartbeat and breathing, pumping oxygenated blood to your muscles as your body prepares to fight or flee.
A bit of healthy anxiety can help you finish work on time, push you to study hard for an exam, or discourage you from taking a dangerous risk.
However, suppose anxiety is persistent, excessive, or often triggered by situations that are not an actual threat.
In that case, you may benefit from seeing a therapist to help counteract these more severe forms of anxiety.
As an affirming practice, we are dedicated to providing the same level of quality care to all of our clients.
We take the extra step beyond being welcoming or accepting.
Our counselors see and appreciate our clients for who they are without judgment.
At Along the Path, we strive to create a safe space for LGBTQ+ identifying individuals through advocacy, awareness, and compassion.
EMDR has been rigorously scientifically researched and can be highly effective for the treatment of trauma, anxiety and traumatic grief.
EMDR uses simple but effective behavioral techniques to reprocess trauma and anxiety in order to create a higher levels of functioning.
Although each client is unique and has specific needs requiring varying duration and intensity of treatment, many clients report significant lowering of disturbance and pain after a few to several sessions.
Stress is mental, physical/emotional, and behavioral.
We will work to challange and change all three as part of treatment.
Some behavioral techniques we use to achieve deep relaxation include guided imagery, mindfulness, meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, and deep breathing.
We will work with you to develop your own individualized plan for use in your daily routine.
