I am a Chicago area psychotherapist specializing in grief, loss and life transition therapy. I offer psychotherapy and grief counseling services to individuals, couples and families. My office is located in west suburban Oak Brook. I specialize in working with people who are grieving. My focus is on helping people discover resilience, hope, meaning, and ways to cope and manage when their world has been changed.
While I have a special expertise in helping people through losses of all kinds, my work is not limited to commonly defined "grief" situations. All of life involves change, and all change involves elements of loss. Losses of any kind can leave us feeling ungrounded and uncertain. My specialty in loss and transition naturally extends to working with people who are experiencing a wide variety of concerns such as depression, anxiety, troubled relationships, trauma, and family of origin issues.
I also work well with people who wish to use therapy for personal growth and self-discovery.

Learning to live without the physical presence of someone you love can be one of life's most difficult journeys.
Grief affects our whole being - our body, our mind and our spirit.
Unfortunately, many of us are told to bury our feelings, to "be strong, " to get over it and get on with our lives.
So we do just that - we cut ourselves off from all the complex and intense feelings that grief naturally evokes, because they're just too frightening or painful to face on our own.
The problem is that feelings don't disappear.

Life presents challenges every day.
While some are exciting and stimulating, some life challenges can feel scary, painful, confusing, or frustrating.
We often think that we need to go through difficult times alone.
For some, seeking out professional help might stir up feelings of weakness, incompetence, or shame.
However, recognizing the need for help and seeking out professional assistance is a sign of both strength and a determination to live an authentic and meaningful life.
An effective therapist can provide support and assistance for healing, growth, change, and transformation.

Group experiences help us to know that we are not alone in our humanness.
Although each of us has a unique way of experiencing and expressing life, there are often striking similarities in the underlying emotional patterns.
Our life struggles and stories are simultaneously the same and different.
I facilitate group experiences, seminars, and workshops for people who are grieving, for those journeying through life transitions, and for individuals seeking to know themselves on a deeper level.
Group work can complement your work in individual therapy (with me or another therapist) or provide a different healing experience.
