David Phillips and Judy Volmert are independent therapists providing counseling and therapy services in the town of Snohomish. David is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), and Judy is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). The difference in their licenses reflects some differences in the emphasis of their individual Masters Degree programs.
To be licensed in the State of Washington, all therapists must have completed a Masters Degree followed by hundreds of hours of supervised sessions with clients. Whether you're experiencing psychological distress associated with an event that took place in your past or you're dealing with something more related to the present, a skilled therapist may be able to help you manage your emotional challenges more proficiently.
At Snohomish Counselors, we'll take the time to develop an individualized treatment plan that's tailored to your unique needs. We'll support you in any way we can throughout your journey. We want to help you feel good enough to participate more fully in the life that is yours.

People have struggles and challenges that are unique to themselves, that are a part of their full life story.
Together, we find a way for them to move forward.
With my "counselor hat" on I help find those places and ways in which things in the "outside" life of the client can be adjusted and changed.
With my "therapist hat" on I sit side by side with the client as we explore and gently unfold the "inside" life.
Approaching from both directions, difficulties can be shifted to both look and feel differently.

If you're living with a teenager who's having difficulties sorting out issues, counseling can be very helpful to everyone.
Growing up has never been easy and it doesn't seem to be getting easier.
There can be so many things to sort out: family disruptions and conflicts, changing bodies, fitting in with peers, finding friends, and academic pressures.
Any or all of these things can sometimes make it feel that just keeping one's head above water is an accomplishment.
