Having difficulty functioning to the best of your ability because of high levels of stress, anxiety, or depression?. Suffering with OCD and finding yourself simply repeating things over, and over, and over, with no end in sight?. D., a clinical psychologist providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to those in need in Nassau County and the surrounding areas.

I specialize in the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety, and related conditions. OCD, anxiety, and depression can take many forms, and can affect each person differently. My aim is to work in collaboration with you to construct an individualized treatment plan and work with you to achieve your goals.

If you've been in therapy before, chances are you've experienced what traditional "talk therapy" has to offer - while providing much needed support, talk therapy is often times not enough to help make progress with OCD, anxiety, and mood disorders, especially if your symptoms are severe.Making the effort to start and commit to therapy is sometimes difficult to do - if you don't see progress, you can be left feeling discouraged or even worse, hopeless.
Services
I have spent more than 10 years providing direct therapeutic services to help adults, children, and families live meaningful and productive lives, despite suffering from the often chronic and pervasive effects of mental illness.
I specialize in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related obsessive-compulsive "spectrum disorders", as well as other forms of anxiety including but not limited to Social Anxiety, Panic Disorder, and Phobias, as well as various forms of mood disorders, including Major Depression.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a widely used, evidence-based form of therapy that focuses on the relationship between thoughts, behaviors, and emotions, and helps to identify unhelpful patterns of thoughts/cognitions and behaviors, in order to develop more effective coping strategies.
Instead, CBT is a "problem-focused" and "action-oriented" form of therapy, meaning it is used to treat specific problems related to a diagnosed condition.
The therapist's role is to assist the client in finding and practicing effective strategies to address the identified goals and decrease symptoms interfering with that individual's daily functioning.
All new patients begin treatment with an appointment for an initial consultation.
This appointment is 60 mins long - the goal is to obtain enough information regarding your presenting problem to properly provide a diagnosis and allow me to discuss treatment recommendations based on your unique clinical presentation.
After intake, typical sessions are 45-60 mins in length, though depending on the nature and severity of clinical presentation, longer sessions may be recommended.
Home Visits: Often times, depending on both clinical necessity and availability in my schedule, therapeutic sessions are conducted in the patient's home to address symptoms that are significantly associated with the home environment (often the case for OCD, Agoraphobia, as well as others).
