Welcome to The Sunshine's Haven Counseling Center, a safe haven for a wide variety of concerns, issues and/or challenges. My name is Afiya K. Hooker and I am a Licensed Psychotherapist in the state of Alabama. My staff and I offer an inviting, therapeutic and confidential office that allows clients to process their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, while also gaining insight on how to effectively address presenting problems and concerns.
Through the use of various counseling techniques and methods, our clients develop life-changing habits to help them cope with any of life's challenging obstacles. My therapy sessions are designed to dissect issues and provide my clients with effective tools to bring about positive changes in their thoughts, feelings, behaviors and lives. Since 2007 I have worked in the mental health field, providing quality services to suit the needs of my clients.
The clients I serve may be experiencing feelings of depression, distress, and anxiety, as well as trauma related issues, familial/relationship concerns, grief, or the need for self-clarification.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Spring Hill College in 2010 and her Master of Science degree from a CACREP accredited program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in 2014.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Alabama ( #4420), Afiya K. has over 13 years of experience in the mental health field and over 6 years of experience as a therapist.
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Spring Hill College in 2010 and her Master of Science degree from a CACREP accredited program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in 2014.

All new clients complete this 90 minute biopsychosocial assessment where we will explore all areas of your life, past to present.
This evaluation is essential and allows us to create a holistic approach towards your positive change.
These 60 minute one-on-one sessions will help you work through your presenting concerns, improve behavior, and re-frame your thinking in order to cope with life's obstacles.
